The factory is named after Mount `Chilalo` which is an isolated, extinct silicic volcanic mountain on southeastern Ethiopia, Arsi Zone of Oromia regional state.

Chilalo Flour Factory was established in 2008 with a starting capital of 25,000,000 Ethiopian Birr. Its owned by Mr. Tedla Hailegiorgis; young, energetic and enthusiastic person born in Ego, a town near Kersa. He is born from agrarian family and he started farming at his young age by supplying wheat grain to the nearby local market. After a few years in 2008, he established Chilalo Flour Factory with 28 employees.
